Minneapolis, MN – Vikings running back Adrian Peterson broke a 22-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Peterson scored again with a 1-yard run in the third and led the Vikings to a 27-10 victory over the Lions.

Minneapolis, MN – Maintenance worker Mike Scharlepp dug up the pitcher’s mound after the Minnesota Twins lost to the New York Yankees in their final game at the Metrodome.
The last long ball
Minneapolis, MN – Yankees catcher Jorge Posada hit the game-winning home run in the seventh inning to help the Yankees sweep the Twins in the American League Division Series. The 4-1 loss was the Twins’ final game at the Metrodome.
Yang beats Woods to win PGA Championship
Chaska, MN – Y.E. Yang celebrated after sinking a putt to defeat Tiger Woods in the PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club. Yang became the first Asian-born player to win a major title.

Washington, DC – President Bush gave thanks to his friends, family and a turkey, providing the 45-pound bird, named Pumpkin, with an official presidential pardon during the White House ceremony.
Obama clinches nomination
Minneapolis, MN – Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and his wife, Michelle, wave to supporters after defeating Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) in the Democratic primary. Obama became the first black candidate of a major party to win the presidential nomination.
